Halloween: It’s for the Dogs

Interestingly, many pet owners look for Halloween dog costumes even before finding something good and kooky for themselves. That’s because we want our pets to look adorable, to stand out, and be loved. When a pet is dressed to the nines and partaking in the costume madness, Halloween simply is more fun for people of all ages – especially for the four-legged member of your family.

Finding unique Halloween dog costumes isn’t much different from finding something fun and distinctive for children or adults. In fact, it’s easy to find dog costumes portraying scary Ghosts, Superheroes, Dragons, Dracula, and all the rest. For a real treat, check out the Halloween dog costume selection at http://www.esensdog.com/category_s/276.htm

Dogs have a great time on Halloween because they’re greeted with affection by all who see them in costume. But if you want something with real flair so your pooch stands out, you won’t find the most unique dog Halloween costumes sold at pet stores. The best dog costumes happen to be online. This is where you’ll find something memorable, something rare that makes heads turn.

Of course, you want your pet to be the center attraction, no matter what kind of plans you have to celebrate the day. If you take your dog Trick or Treating, many of your neighbors will delight in giving your dog plenty of yummy Halloween-themed dog treats. Or if you and you pet attend an actual Halloween party, there’s no doubt whose fur-baby will be all the rage for all time.

Whether you plan to throw a Halloween party for humans and want your pet to also look the part, or you just plan to walk it around the neighborhood on this special day, http://www.esensdog.com/ has a great selection of the best Halloween dog costumes and Halloween pet accessories to choose from. Out Of Dog Food? Can't Get to the Store?

Don't panic! Dogs can eat a homemade meal to hold them over until your next trip to the store. Here is a simple recipe from Fido Friendly in case you are in need of an "emergency meal." Although keep in mind there are also a lot of foods that can be toxic to dogs and they should never eat. This is a pretty controversial subject but here is a small list of items that you may not commonly hear that can be harmful to your dog: avacados, onions, grapes/raisins, alcohol (or foods containing any), macadamia nuts, and candy/gum.

Dogs. Harness or Collar?

There is a lot of controversy out there whether it's better for your dog to wear a harness or collar. It really depends on how your dog behaves while you are walking them. If you have an excited, hyper, or super friendly dog that pulls when walking we definitely recommend a harness. The harness will help prevent strain on the neck which can cause breathing problems, gagging/vomiting, and damage to the skin, neck, and spine. If your dog is constantly choking themselves with a collar while walking this can also result in strange behavior like being afraid of walks, accidents in the house, and just not wanting to go outside for walks. Harnesses also provide the comfort and security that the dog cannot slip out, a common problem with collars. Harnesses are commonly recommended for puppies since they have a lot of energy and pull when walking, but keep in mind if you want to train your dog to walk properly the harness encourages them to pull, teaching them the "wrong way" to walk. Not all dogs need a harness. If you have a dog that's calm, well trained, or are currently training collars are perfectly fine. Just be cautious of excessive pulling.

Puppia RiteFit Harness: The new design from Puppia allows for a perfect fit with adjustable neck and chest belt with buckles and velcro. The RiteFit harness comes in 2 styles Combat (shown) and the Original available in a variety of solid colors.

Preston Flag Collar: Preston collars are known for thier unique styles and durability. They also come in a range of sizes suitable for most dogs. Preston collars are great for everyday use.
